Good Evening Roosevelt Families,

Thank you to all the volunteers who help us raise money this weekend at our RooFriends December Nights Parking Fundraiser!  It was a huge success.  While we are waiting for the final number, prior to costs it looks like we raised close to $30,000!! That is great news in our efforts to continue to provide free After School Enrichment, to continue to fund our wonderful school librarian position, and more.

Principal Town Hall Slides Recording

Great to see many of you on Zoom on Friday, here are the slides and the recording in case you missed our Principal Town Hall. A few key items I highlighted:        

• In January I am hoping to host an in person community meeting to focus on safety
• In the meantime, please download the San Diego ‘Get It Done’ App to report any safety concerns you observe around our school

• I was told by SDPD that for non-emergencies this is the best way to get support from SDPD and the city

• In regards to student safety, we will begin student drop off and pick up in our lot off of Zoo Drive when we return from Winter Break (January 3, 2023)

• More details to follow, thank you to our Site Governance Team for making this a priority!

SDHS IB Night For Our Entire Community

I am excited to share with you that San Diego High School (SDHS) will be hosting an IB Informational meeting next Wednesday, December 7th, at 6 pm.  See attached flier for more information.

Vision 2030

SDUSD Vision 2030 will provide strategic direction for the overall educational experience for students, and will guide our goals and the actions we take.  We are looking for at least one parent and one student to join us for a Zoom session led by our district:  Dec 14 at 5 pm. San Diego County Gun Violence Listening Sessions

San Diego County’s  gun violence reduction advisory group is hosting community listening sessions. These sessions will be to help the advisory group to get to  know the needs from the community in order to find solutions. There are several upcoming listening meetings. Please click here for flyers.

Volunteer Chaperones Needed for Dec 7 Field Trips

  *   Get started now on your volunteer application to get on the list of approved chaperones.

  *   Applications are online (sign-in with Student/Staff login) and hard copies are available in the school office.  Please contact Ms. Hernandez at shernandez4@sandi.net and Nurse Keesee at ckeesee@sandi.net for assistance with the process.

ASB Weekly Announcements

  *   This year Roosevelt Families and Staff donated 933 pounds of food to the San Diego Food Bank. A special thank you to the parent volunteers who delivered the donations to the food bank. Last but not least, congratulations to Mrs. Caldwell and Madam McVicar’s 4th period classes for winning the canned food drive!

Core Academy Saturday School

  *   All students are invited to attend. Students can clear up to 8 tardies and/or one unexcused absence.  This is important for all students at all grades to be eligible for various activities and will be especially important for 8th graders to participate in our Promotion Ceremony.
